Stierle, Stierle, Stierle he's our man, when Leo can't David Stierle can!  I move that we strip the managers position from current manager to elect David Stierle "the man"!

All those in favor?

Way to go Pirates! A beat down at Germantown! 12-0! When was the last time we blanked a team?  Well done to all who we're able to make it last night. Great job Jose' on the hill.  Heard there was stellar defense and hits all around.  Just wished I'd been there. But of course I might not had the same results, who knows.  David, David, David...

Next game is Sunday at Clarksville at 4:30 pm against the Colonels.  We will begin wearing are white(s) uniform starting this Sunday and the gold/grays on week night games. So remember this Sunday white pants and white top. Black hat always.

Bobby will start against the Colonels and Brent will be relief.  Is there anyone who will not be there Sunday?  Please let me (I mean) David know!

Again, great job guys. Let's go get another win on this Sunday. See you at Clarksville.

Grays Rebound in Game Two Re-match

Smarting from a Game One melt down, the Grays had to wait only two days to get well.

It took the home-standing Grays three innings to get started, but when they got started, they almost didn't stop.  With the score 0-0, John Denny and Rich Mills led off the inning with a pair of singles.  They were joined on the bases by Charlie Gabriel who walked.  David Stierle advanced the runners ninety feet driving in John with a single.  John Garcia, Jose Cubero and Mark Ferguson kept things going with RBI singles.  Dustin Stover grounded into a fielder's choice which produced the fifth run.  Bobby Blair added a single.  After the second out John D. had his second single of the inning and Rich Mills reached for the second time on a walk.  After three, the Grays led 8-0.

In the fourth after David walked, John G. reached on a fielder's choice and then moved to second on Jose's single.  Mark Ferguson then doubled down the left field line drving in both John and Jose for a 10-0 lead which the Grays carried into the fifth.

In the fifth, Chris Gregory walked and advanced to second on a ground out.  With two outs, Charlie Gabriel scored Chris with a single and went to second on a single by David and scored the twelfth run on John G.'s long single for a 12-0 run rule win.

The key defensive stand came in the top of the fourth.  After an error by David at short and John G. in left put runners on first and second with no outs, a hard ground ball to Bobby at third resulted in a 5 unassisted-3 double play,  A popup to Rich at second ended the threat.  The only other time the Senators managed to put two runners on was in the first.  After the lead-off man popped out to Jose in front of the mound, a walk and a wild pitch put a runner on second.  Jose walked his second (and last) batter after a fly out to Chris in center.  Another wild pitch (also Jose's last) put two in scoring position but a strike out ended the inning.  A second inning two out double was the only other runner to reach second.

Jose threw a three hit, five inning, complete game shut-out.

The Grays improved to 1-1.

Grays blow big lead in opener

The Louisville Grays lost the season opener against the Senators after blowing a six run lead entering the bottom of the last inning.

The Grays scored four in the top of the first.  John Garcia walked and stole second and went to third as Jose Cubero reached on an error.  Mark Ferguson drove John in with a single and advanced Jose to second.  After Jose stole third and John Denney was hit by a pitch and stole second, both scored as Brent Bonte reached on the Senators' second  error of the inning.

In the second, the Grays  added a run  as Dave Porta and Chris Gregory doubled back to back.

In the bottom of the second, four Senator singles cut the lead to 5-2.

The score remained 5-2 until the bottom of the fifth when a lead-off walk and a pair of singles produced a run and a 5-3 score.

In the sixth, three consecutive singles cut the Grays' lead to 5-4.

In the seventh, the Grays plated two unearned runs on two Senator errors and played add-on in the eighth and last inning scoring three on a single by Jose, a walk to Mark, and singles by John D. and Bill Keeling and taking a 10-4 lead.

But in the bottom of the eighth after there were two outs and runners on second and third, EIGHT straight singles scored seven runs and let the Senators escape with an 11-10 win.

11-10!!!  I can not believe WE blew a 6 run lead!  It goes to show that you can never think any lead is safe, we have to be in the game the whole time.

Let me apologize to all for my outburst!  Scotty, I forgot your daughter was in stands and I cursed and to any others who didn't like my choice of words, that was not appropriate, and again I apologize!

Folks, our next game is tomorrow night June 3rd at Germantown against the Senators.  Game starts at 7:00 p.m.!  Jose' has the mound.  We will wear the Gold tops and Gray pants!

Uniforms - It's become apparent that the desired team name change (Grays) and uniform issue has died!  We will remain the PIRATES!
For those who gave me funds for uniforms a refund is in your future.

Currently, I know that David Porta, Leo Brown, Brent Bonte, Bill Keeling and John Seyffarth will not be at game tomorrow.  Charlie is listed DL (back spasms).  Are there any others, because that leaves us with 12.  If you are one of the 12, I need to know for sure or contact David Stierle, immediately!

Guys we have a great squad!  It was a tough, tough loss.  Nobody like to lose.  Lets get back out there tomorrow night and get a victory!

Anyone, who doesn't have a cap, contact Bobby.  He has found Pirates hat online and can point you in the right direction.  Otherwise, you may have to find one at Walmart or Dick's or wherever.
If you have money for Grays uniform I will get from you on Sunday.  If you owe me league fee, I will get from you on Sunday.
